Manukau Symphony Orchestra: Schools Concert
Music | Year 3 -8
Live Symphonic music is a thrilling experience for all ages. For Children especially, studies have shown listening and engaging with orchestral music to have a positive emotional response with children feeling calm, relaxed and engaged regardless of what is being played. Many children also feel inspired to learn an instrument after attending such events.
MSO INSPIRE is collaborating with Due Drop Events Centre again to bring six short, entertaining concerts to school children across South Auckland.
These concerts will feature well-known pieces for children alongside stories set to music with an entertaining narrator. Performed by the Manukau Symphony Orchestra conducted by Music Director Uwe Grodd.
Feedback from schools:
"“This was such a magical experience for our students, of whom most would never have experienced a live orchestra performance. It was beautifully organised. We loved the introductions provided to each piece (with an appropriately levelled explanation). The introduction of some of the instruments, using the big screen for close ups, was perfect. Also, the addition of the story telling with Suzy Cato was wonderful. It really was an awesome morning, and we really appreciate having had this opportunity.” – Teacher at Glen Eden Primary School
“The kids enjoyed listening to familiar songs by Mozart and their favorite was Star Wars. Thank you very much for the opportunity to bring our students to this awesome event. Tongan MC was awesome. Suzy Cato is the best.” - Teacher at Bader Intermediate School
